Hunting Talents from Grassroots Key to Enrich Sports: Fakhrul

Dhaka: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today emphasized that exploring talents from the grassroots level is essential for enhancing the country’s sports arena. He stated that Bangladesh possesses significant potential in sports, and nurturing talent with appropriate care could lead to more honors for the country on the global stage.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul made these remarks while speaking as a special guest at the inaugural session of the ‘sports card and allowance distribution’ program at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon this morning. The event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who served as the chief guest, under the theme ‘if sports becomes a profession, family gets confidence.’



Fakhrul praised the program’s comprehensive plan and noted that the Prime Minister has entrusted the sports ministry to an individual with a national-level reputation. He reiterated the potential within Bangladeshi players and the importance of proper nurturing to achieve greater success.



He further mentioned that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman shared a plan to identify and develop talent starting from the school level, describing it as the sole real strategy to advance the country’s sports sector. Fakhrul expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for recognizing athletes who have succeeded internationally, suggesting that maintaining this trend could lead to continued success in sports.



The event was chaired by State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque and attended by Women and Child Affairs Minister Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan, Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, Prime Minister’s Adviser Ismail Zabiullah, Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam, and BNP Vice Chairman Asaduzzaman Ripon, among others.
