Dhaka: Krishibid Md. Humayun Kabir and Krishibid Dr. Md. Akikul Islam Akik have been elected as the President and General Secretary, respectively, of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) Krishibid Samity for the years 2026-'27.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the election took place at five polling centers-Dhaka, Mymensing, Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Jassore-from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 4, in a peaceful and cordial manner. A total of 62 candidates from two separate panels contested for 29 posts, with the Humayun and Akik panel securing 19 positions, including those of President and General Secretary.
The winning panel, particularly Humayun and Akik, achieved their positions with a significant margin over their rivals. The election saw the participation of 300 voters, including Assistant Directors, Senior Assistant Directors, Deputy Directors, Joint Directors, Additional General Managers, and General Managers of BADC, who cast their votes to select the next leadership of the Samity.
Following the announcement of the results, the newly elected President expressed gratitude to all voters for attending the polling centers and casting their votes for their preferred candidates. He also sought the cooperation of voters to enable the newly elected committee to effectively manage the organization for the benefit of its members.
