Satkhira: Members of the Coast Guard have seized a huge quantity of Indian medicines worth Tk 1.20 crore evading customs duty in Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira district. This significant seizure was carried out by the vigilant officers of the Coast Guard, marking a successful interception of illegal goods.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this information was provided by Lieutenant Commander Md. Muntasir Ibne Mohsin, Media Officer of Coast Guard West Zone, earlier in the day. The operation was initiated following secret intelligence suggesting an imminent smuggling attempt of a large consignment of medicines from India into Bangladesh.
A special team from Coast Guard Station Kaikhali, acting on this intelligence, conducted a targeted drive in Mirgang and adjacent areas under Shyamnagar Police Station. The operation resulted in the seizure of the Indian medicines, which had been smuggled into the country circumventing the necessary customs duties.
The Media Officer emphasized that the Coast Guard is committed to continuing such operations in the future to combat smuggling activities and ensure the protection of the country's economic interests.
