Dhaka: Admission to Class XI at the higher secondary level will be conducted online, relying solely on students' GPA scores from the SSC and equivalent examinations, as well as their preferred choice of colleges, eliminating the need for an admission test or lottery.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, there are approximately 25 lakh seats available for HSC admission nationwide. The admission process is expected to be completed by September 15, as stated by Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee President and Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman. He shared this information during a press conference at the Ministry of Education at the Secretariat, following the announcement of the SSC and equivalent examination results.
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman emphasized that the admission process will conclude by mid-September, with classes for the new academic year commencing immediately afterwards. The exact start date for classes will be announced through a notification shortly.
Discussing the availability of seats, he noted that there are around 25 lakh seats at the HSC level throughout the country. Last year, only 58.7 percent of these seats were occupied, leaving approximately 41.3 percent vacant. He anticipated that the proportion of vacant seats might increase this year relative to the number of eligible students.
Explaining the admission procedure, Professor Akhtaruzzaman clarified that no student would be admitted through a lottery or admission test. Students will be allocated colleges and seats based on their GPA scores from the SSC and equivalent examinations and the preferences indicated in their applications.
He further mentioned that the schedule and timeline for Class XI admission have already been established, with a comprehensive notification and admission policy to be issued soon.
