HSBC Launches Export Excellence Awards 2026 to Honor Bangladeshi Exporters

Dhaka: The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited in Bangladesh has announced the launching of the 'HSBC Export Excellence Awards 2026', recognizing and honouring exporters from Bangladesh for their contribution to the sustainable growth of the country. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, exporters will have the opportunity to nominate themselves for the title of 'Exporter of the Year' across four distinct categories by completing a straightforward nomination form. The categories for this edition of the HSBC Export Excellence Awards include Export Excellence in Ready-made Garments, Ready-made Garments Backward Linkage, Non-traditional and Emerging Sectors in Manufacturing, and Non-traditional and Emerging Sectors in Service. The awards programme is supported by programme partners including the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Bangladesh, and The British High Commission Dhaka. Ernst and Young (EY) will serve as the technical partner responsible for auditing. A press release stated that th e adjudication will be conducted by a Jury Board consisting of members from HSBC senior management, the Ministry of Commerce, and the British High Commission Dhaka. Winners will be evaluated based on their annual contribution to national exports and economy, diversity, responsibility, sustainable business practices, governance strengths, regulatory compliance, among other criteria. The awards are open to all enterprises and entrepreneurs operating in Bangladesh, not limited to HSBC customers, and there is no entry fee or financial recognition. Md Mahbub ur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer, HSBC Bangladesh, expressed, "This award honours the trailblasing enterprises redefining Bangladesh's footprint in the global economy." Talukdar Noman Anwar, Country Head of Communications, HSBC Bangladesh, also shared the programme's rules and regulations during the launch conference. A discussion session was held with past Export Excellence Award winners, including Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, Chairman and CEO of PRAN-RFL Group , Enayetur Rahman, CEO and President of Ulkasemi, and Asif Ashraf, Director and CEO of Urmi Group, who shared insights on their experiences in the Bangladesh export sector. The event was also attended by Saiyab Ahmed, Deputy Director of Trade and Investment, British High Commission Dhaka, and Naushad Ekramullah, Partner and Managing Director, EY Bangladesh.
