Housewife Dies from Burn Injuries at Chattogram Medical College Hospital

Chattogram: Urmi Akter, 26, a housewife, succumbed to her injuries at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) last night after she received burn injuries at her home on Monday morning.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victim was the wife of Md Nayim Uddin from Khansama village in Chatori union under Anowara upazila of the district. CMCH and police sources reported that Urmi sustained severe burn injuries when her saree caught fire while she was cooking at around 11 am on Monday, coinciding with the morning of Eid-ul-Fitr.



Upon hearing her screams, family members and neighbors managed to extinguish the fire and rescued her. However, by that time, a significant portion of her body had been severely burned.



She was quickly transported to CMCH in a critical condition. Physicians at the CMCH burn unit stated that the woman succumbed to her injuries as 80 percent of her body was affected by the fire incident.
