Cumilla: A housewife has allegedly been gang raped by a group of individuals in the Chandina upazila of Cumilla district. Police have rescued the victim and arrested four suspects connected to the incident, which occurred in the Madarpur village within the upazila, stated Atiqur Rahman, the officer-in-charge of Chandina Police Station.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident unfolded when a group intercepted the housewife and her husband while they were passing through the village around 11:00pm on Sunday. The suspects subsequently took the housewife to an abandoned location, where they assaulted her throughout the night after confining her husband.
The victim’s husband pleaded for his wife’s release, but the offenders demanded Tk 1 lakh as a ransom. In a fortunate turn of events, the man managed to contact the national emergency number 999 and requested assistance.
Responding to the distress call, police conducted a rescue operation around 5:00am, finding the woman in a maize field in the vicinity. Concurrently, law enforcement officials apprehended four individuals in connection with the harrowing incident.
