Banshkhali: State Minister for Land and Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin today emphasized the significance of honesty, public service, and equality as foundational elements in the construction of a new Bangladesh, a vision championed by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mir Helal, speaking at a relief distribution event for flood-affected individuals organized by the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, asserted that there is no alternative to honesty and public service, and discrimination must be eradicated. He encouraged public participation in nation-building, urging citizens to dedicate a portion of their income, time, and efforts to enhance the lives of the impoverished and marginalized, thereby contributing to the country’s welfare.
He highlighted that the foundation has consistently supported people during challenging times, regardless of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) position in power. Addressing recent floods, he noted that the government swiftly acted upon receiving flood warnings, implementing measures in affected areas, including the Chattogram Hill Tracts, to safeguard lives and provide assistance to those in need.
Mir Helal recalled that upon assuming office on February 12, 2026, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman instructed ministers, government officials, and political leaders to acknowledge that the true proprietors of the country are its people. He emphasized the necessity of prioritizing public service and ensuring that the fundamental rights of every citizen are upheld as a collective responsibility.
Furthermore, Mir Helal highlighted the challenges faced by BNP leaders and activists, citing “inhumane torture and oppression” endured over the past 19 years.
