A discussion among the government representatives, industrialists and entrepreneurs was held on Tuesday in regard to the issues related to the crusher, gravel and sand extraction in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

The dialogue to this effect has come to effect when the government-given timeline to the unregistered and yet-to-be renewed crusher industries to come to the legal ambit was fast approaching.

It may be noted that the government had stipulated the deadline of July 1 for the crusher industries to come to the due registration process.

Organizing a press conference some days ago in view of the fast-approaching deadline, the crusher entrepreneurs warned the government to close their enterprises since July 1 noting that the registration was not done due to several reasons.

According to the Home Ministry, the discussion was initiated to talk about the issue as the entrepreneurs had already submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister.

“DPM and Home Minister had received briefing from all sectors. He has pledged to hold discussion at higher level again. Today’s discussion did not bring anything in concrete”, spokesperson of the home ministry, Jeetendra Basnet said.

The discussion was attended by contractors, crusher entrepreneurs, representatives from the federation and association of municipalities and rural municipalities, Department of Mines, industry ministry, federal affairs and ministry of forest and environment and Inland Revenue department among others.

On the occasion, the entrepreneurs urged the government to bring the issue to a logical conclusion at the earliest. They accused the government of bringing tough criteria, saying the registered but yet to be renewed industries would not come to the registration process.
