Kuala Lumpur:National security efforts require coordination among all agencies under the Home Ministry, with each agency playing its specific role to ensure a secure environment for citizens, stated Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the minister emphasized that enforcement effectiveness should not be judged solely by arrest numbers or seizure values, but by the integrity of the officers performing their duties. He noted that while each agency has distinct responsibilities, they all share the unified goal of making Malaysia safe for its people.
Saifuddin Nasution highlighted the importance of threat detection within the national security framework, citing the Royal Malaysia Police's (PDRM) success in dismantling a cannabis smuggling syndicate valued at RM33.4 million. Additionally, he mentioned the Immigration Department's (JIM) role in detaining 59 illegal immigrants and disrupting their transportation network.
In maritime security, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) continues to enhance border controls, exemplified by the detention of a vessel carrying 36 Indonesian nationals. Saifuddin Nasution stressed the necessity of vigilant monitoring of security on land, at sea, and at all entry points into the country.
He also praised the bravery of personnel from PDRM, JIM, and MMEA who reported or rejected bribes while executing their duties, underscoring that this collective integrity fortifies the Home Ministry's security network.
