He stressed the necessity of digital forensic laboratories in combating these issues and mentioned that the Cyber Police Unit had officially commenced operations on October 1 under the supervision of an Additional Inspector General.
Plans are also in place to establish Cyber Police Unit laboratories at the district and divisional levels, to function as digital forensic laboratories. This expansion aims to strengthen digital analysis capabilities across all administrative levels.
Acknowledging the support from the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Salahuddin Ahmed expressed gratitude for their assistance in constructing the new facilities in Chattogram. The CID is working on enhancing the technical and investigative abilities of the police to address cybercrime, focusing on key regions like Chattogram under the project "Safer Cyberspace for Digital Bangladesh." With the growth of online financial services, the rise in financial fraud and illicit transactions is a growing concern that these efforts aim to mitigate.
