Dhaka: The holy month of Ramadan will start on Thursday as the crescent moon was sighted in the sky over Bangladesh on Wednesday.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision at a meeting held at Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram office in Dhaka. Muslims are meant to fast from dawn to dusk during the month, a time of restraint and austerity.
