Hill Districts to Enjoy Holiday on Chaitra Sankranti

Dhaka: The government has declared a general holiday in the three hill districts-Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban-on April 13 on the occasion of Chaitra Sankranti. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Sunday. The holiday will be optional in other districts for those observing Chaitra Sankranti.

According to United News of Bangladesh, April 14 is a public holiday on the occasion of Pohela Baishakh. As a result, people in the three hill districts will enjoy a two-day holiday. The Ministry of Public Administration had earlier issued a notification on November 9, 2025, specifying public holidays for government, semi-government, statutory, autonomous, and semi-autonomous organizations.
