The Highway Police fined actor-turned-politician Ashraful Hossain Alam alias Hero Alam for speeding in his private car, while on his way to Chunarughat upazila from Bogura in Habiganj on Tuesday.
Mainul Islam Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Shaistaganj Highway Police Station, said they penalised Hero Alam Tk 2500 for speeding over the limit.
Hero Alam came to Narporti village under Chunarughat to receive a microbus of Noah brand from local Abdul Jabbar Gaucchia Academy Principal M Mokhlichhur Rahman who in a Facebook Live announced it as a gift for Hero Alam whether he lost or won in the by-polls to Bogura-4 and-6.
Though he lost in both constituencies, the principal was steadfast to give the microbus to him despite widespread criticism online and offline.
Alam finally came to the district to receive the vehicle on Tuesday morning while the vehicle and documents and key were handed over to him.
In an instant reaction, the hero declared to use it as an ambulance to carry patients.
Alam said, “The principal kept his word to give the vehicle and it was proved that the people of Sylhet keep their word after saying anything.”
“Initially I could not believe that Mokhlichhur Rahman would give me the vehicle,” he added.
