Dhaka: Mild heatwave is sweeping over different parts of the country, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). A Met office bulletin said this morning, “Mild heatwave is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Dhaka, Madaripur, Gopalgonj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajgonj, Patuakhali, Rangamati, Bandarban, Laxmipur and Feni, and it may continue at places.”
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, it forecasted that light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. It also mentioned the possibility of rain at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions with moderate to heavy falls expected in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours commencing from 9 am.
The bulletin further indicated that day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country. The highest temperature recorded on Friday was 37.8 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, while today’s minimum temperature was 22.3 degrees Celsius in Tetulia under Rangpur division. The sun is scheduled to set at 6:24 pm today and rise at 5:28 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
