Dhaka: The Health Sector Reform Commission is set to present its comprehensive report today to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. The submission will occur at the State Guest House Jamuna at 11 am, as confirmed by Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder to BSS.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the government established the 12-member Health Sector Reform Commission in November 2024, headed by Professor AK Azad Khan. The commission was tasked with delivering its findings to Chief Adviser Prof Yunus within a 90-day period. The commission's membership includes distinguished figures such as Professor AK Azad Khan, who is also the president of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh, and several other notable experts from various medical and health research fields.
The report is anticipated to address significant reforms in the health sector, drawing on the expertise of its members, which include Professor Md Muhammad Zakir Hossain from the Public Health and Health Informatics Department at BSMMU, Prof Dr Liaquat Ali of Pothikrit Foundation, and Prof Dr Sayera Akther, a gynecologist, among other respected professionals. The commission's insights and recommendations will be critical in shaping the future strategies for health sector improvements in the country.
