Health Officials Report Surge in Dengue Cases with 3 Fatalities in Bangladesh

Dhaka: Health officials today reported a surge in dengue cases, with 409 new infections and three fatalities recorded in the past 24 hours.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) stated that the newly reported cases were distributed across various divisions: 72 patients were hospitalized in Barishal and Chattogram divisions each, 67 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 54 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 32 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 28 in Khulna division, 11 in Mymensingh division, 51 in Rajshahi division, 16 in Rangpur division, and four in Sylhet division.



This year, Bangladesh has witnessed 76 deaths due to dengue, with a total of 19,529 people affected by the disease. Despite the recent surge in cases, the DGHS reported that 530 patients were discharged after recovering from dengue across various hospitals in the country.



The dengue outbreak last year resulted in 575 fatalities and affected 101,214 people nationwide, indicating a significant public health challenge for Bangladesh.
