Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 665 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least one person in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided a detailed distribution of the new cases across various regions. Out of the 665 cases, 135 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division, 79 in Chattogram division, and 125 in Dhaka division excluding the capital. In Dhaka itself, 141 cases were reported in the South City Corporation area, while 83 were reported in the North City Corporation area. Other regions affected include Khulna division with 67 cases, Mymensingh division with 19 cases, Rangpur division with 14 cases, and Sylhet division with two cases.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts this year, Bangladesh has recorded 156 deaths, with the disease affecting 39,192 individuals. In comparison, last year saw 575 fatalities and 101,214 people affected by dengue across the country.
