Madhupur: Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam today announced the government's plan to introduce a health card designed to enhance healthcare services for the general public, with a particular focus on marginalized communities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister emphasized that the healthcare initiative is a high priority, aligning with the government's electoral pledges. This statement was made during the inauguration of a child health awareness campaign at the Arankhola Union Parishad premises in Madhupur upazila of Tangail. The campaign, organized by the Child Health Awareness Foundation, aimed to raise awareness about congenital cleft lip and palate.
The minister also highlighted plans for enhanced monitoring of hospitals nationwide to ensure the provision of quality healthcare services. He reiterated the Prime Minister's directive that healthcare services be accessible at people's doorsteps, necessitating proactive engagement from concerned officials.
During the event, free medical services and medicines were provided to attendees. Dr Reshma Anam, the minister's wife, coordinated the health camp, supporting the initiative's community outreach efforts.
Madhupur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Jubayer Hossain, along with Dr Aslamul Islam Rudra, assistant secretary for human rights affairs of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB), and local political leaders, were present at the event. Earlier in the day, the minister also laid the foundation stone for a new Union Parishad building in Aushnara union under Madhupur upazila.
