Dhaka: The High Court (HC) today directed relevant authorities to ensure that students' identity cards include both their blood groups and their parents' phone numbers. This decision came after a hearing on a related writ petition.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the directive was issued by a High Court division bench comprised of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Sayed Jahed Mansur. The order also called for the establishment of a high-power expert committee within seven days to investigate the causes of the recent fighter jet crash into a building of Milestone School and College in Uttara. The committee is expected to submit its findings within 45 days.
Additionally, the High Court issued a rule demanding explanations from relevant authorities as to why compensation of Taka five crore should not be awarded to the families of each deceased victim and Taka one crore to each injured individual from the crash. The court also inquired about the measures taken to provide adequate medical treatment to the injured, both domestically and internationally.
The plea was presented by senior advocate Zainul Abedin, Barrister Kaiser Kama, Advocate Gazi Qamrul Islam Sazal, and Advocate Siddique Ullah Miah. Representing the state were Deputy Attorney Generals Shafikur Rahman and Tanim Khan, alongside Assistant Attorney General Ekramul Kabir.
