Dhaka: The High Court (HC) today issued a directive asking relevant authorities to justify why measures should not be implemented to live broadcast hearings of cases deemed to have public and constitutional significance.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a High Court division bench comprising Justice Md. Habibul Gani and Justice Syed Mohammed Tazrul Hossain made the order after a hearing on a writ petition related to this matter. The court has instructed the Supreme Court Registrar General, the Information Secretary, and the Law Secretary to respond to the directive within four weeks. Furthermore, June 26 has been scheduled for the next hearing and any subsequent orders.
Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir represented the petitioners in court, who include lawyers Saddam Hossain, Mizanun Haque, Abdullah Sadik, Aminul Islam Shakil, and Zayed-Bin-Amjad.
