Dhaka: The High Court (HC) today ordered the appointment of an administrator at the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) and mandated that the election of its executive committee be held subsequently. A High Court division bench consisting of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Mubina Asaf passed this order while disposing of two separate writ petitions related to the matter.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the court directed the commerce secretary to implement the order within a four-week timeframe. Legal arguments for BAIRA were presented by senior advocates Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar and Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal. Representing the BAIRA members in the hearing were senior advocates Zainul Abdin, Ahsanul Karim, Advocate Mohammad Siddik Ullah Miah, and Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun.
This development follows the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court’s decision on November 11, which imposed a status quo on the BAIRA election until November 19. The Supreme Court f
urther extended the status quo until the resolution of a rule issued concerning the election. The High Court was subsequently instructed to expedite the disposal of the rule. In compliance with this directive, today’s decision was reached after the High Court heard the two separate pleas and the associated rule.
