Bangladesh national team cricket coach Chandika Hathurusingha expressed his condolences to the student and mass people who were killed during the student-led mass movement which ousted Sheikh Hasina from the power. Hathurusingha saw the July-August revolution from his hotel room in Dhaka as the practice of the national team was cancelled. He was emotion-choked as he described the incident during a press conference in Pakistan before Bangladesh's practice session. "My thoughts and prayers are with the family of those who lost their loved ones. It was really hard... I think, I hope the students' questions will be answered," he said. "It was an unprecedented event. I hope that the country will come to normalcy soon. It was very difficult." "We know that sport has a real power to unite and give hope to the people. A good game will definitely help the Pakistani and Bangladeshi cricket loving public. After the ouster of the government, the reform in the Bangladesh Cricket Board is also imminent wit h Faruk Ahmed looking favourite to lead the board as its president. Faruk Ahmed was at loggerhead with Hathurusingha during his second stint as chief selector as the Sri Lanka-born coach forced BCB to execute two-tier selection process. As Hathurusinga had the opportunity to intervene in selection process in this system, Faruk stepped down from the post as his protest. It is believed if Faruk comes back to the BCB as its president, Hathurusingha will not be in comfortable situation. But the head coach looked unfazed by it. "I don't know what's happening back home. I have signed a contract till whatever the date. I am looking forward to serve the term. If the board changes, and the new people want to make a change, I am okay with that.
