Lakshmipur: BNP Joint Secretary General and Lakshmipur-3 (Sadar) candidate Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee today stated that individuals in Saudi Arabia refer to Sheikh Hasina as 'Kazzab,' which translates to liar.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Anee made these remarks during a courtyard meeting with women voters in Bhabaniganj Union of Lakshmipur Sadar upazila. He mentioned that while Sheikh Hasina is called 'Kazzab,' Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia continue to receive praise from those in Saudi Arabia.
Anee described Ziaur Rahman as a leader of respect within the Muslim Ummah and a figure who is admired both domestically and internationally. He also emphasized Ziaur Rahman's significant role during the Liberation War, highlighting his contributions on the battlefield and his guidance to freedom fighters.
Reflecting on his political experiences, Anee recounted his imprisonment during his years in student politics, surviving gunfire attacks, and the vandalism of his home. He shared that his two sons faced harassment, and he himself was once arrested from his residence and beaten while in police custody.
"Yet I did not bow down. I am not someone who surrenders to injustice," Anee declared, emphasizing his resilience in the face of adversity.
The meeting was attended by prominent District BNP members, including Hafizur Rahman, Abul Hashem, Sadar (East) Upazila BNP President Main Uddin Chowdhury Riaz, District Olama Dal President Shah Md. Emran, District Mohila Dal President Sabera Anwar, General Secretary Fatema Akter Sumi Bhuiyan, and others.
