Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today urged root-level leaders and activists of Awami League to highlight the development work of the present government before mass people across the country.

Hasan, also Joint General Secretary of Awami League (AL), said the development scenario of country has been changed today under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina and Awami League.

"Thousands of people in each union are now beneficiaries of various social programmes of the government. Every house in the village has electricity connection. Not only the main roads, now the roads to people's houses have also been built with concrete," he added.

Dr Hasan said these as chief guest while speaking at 'Trinomul representative meeting' of six unions including Rangunia Municipality unit of Awami League this evening.

Terming the root-level leaders and activists as the life-line of AL, Dr. Hasan said they are keeping party active in villages, lanes, by-lanes for a long time.

He said there have been massive developments in the whole country including Rangunia in the last 14 years of Awami League government.

"When I was first elected MP in 2009, my house did not even have electricity connection. Today, every house got the power-connection in Rangunia upazila. Once one has to take a whole day to travel from one end of Rangunia to the other, now it can be done in an hour. Such massive developments were not done earlier by those who were elected as MPs from Rangunia," he added.

Dr Hasan said that BNP was not found during the time of any calamity in the country including corona and floods in the country.

"They (BNP) did not provide a handful of rice to anyone's house. But the BNP leaders will again be seen in their area during the upcoming election like a winter bird. Elections are near, if the government's development work is presented to the common people, the victory of the boat will be confirmed. The government, with boat symbol, will win again with a huge vote in the next election and the leader of the people, Sheikh Hasina, will become the prime minister for the fourth consecutive time, InshaAllah," he said.

The information minister said he had to travel from one district to another in the country while performing the government duties and the party, yet he comes to his own constituency every week just for the development of Rangunia.

"There is not a single school college madrasha in Rangunia upazila, which has not got a new building. There is no mosque, temple and pagoda that has not received several rounds of development allocations. All the developments that have taken place across the country have been possible because of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina," the minister added.

He said that the present government has given free vaccinations, masks and sanitizers during the Corona period.

"I've given relief amounting to Tk 1.75 crore to Rangunia through my family charity NNK Foundation. If these developments of the government and AL are highlighted before the mass people properly, people will not vote anywhere else in the next election," said Dr Hasan.

Upazila AL senior vice-president Abdul Monaf Sikder presided over the function while AL League leaders Emrul Karim Rashed and Mohammad Selim moderated the meeting.

AL leaders Aktar Hossain Khan, Engineer Shamsul Alam Talukder, Iqbal Hossain, Abu Taher, UP Chairman Shafiul Alam, Noor Ullah and Mujibul Haque Hiru, among others, addressed the function.
