The body of a housewife was recovered from her bedroom just six months into her marriage in Roazan upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mojaheda Mina, 18, daughter of Nuru Huda of Pachkhain Majipara under the upazila.
Locals said one Mohammad Harun, a resident of Chader Dighipar area of the same upazila, married Mina with their families’ approval around six months back.
Mina’s father however alleged that Mina was subjected to mental torture by her husband’s six sisters ever since. He also said they must have killed her in a planned way.
Mohammad Ismail, sub inspector (SI) of Purbo Gujra Police Investigation Centre under the upazila, said on information they recovered the body hanging from the ceiling fan of her bedroom with her scarf around noon.
The reason for the death will be ascertained following autopsy as the body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue, added the SI.
