Dhaka: Leicester City midfielder Hamza Dewan Choudhury arrived in the capital this Monday morning to play in the Bangladesh national football team’s upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifier match against Hong Kong, China, scheduled for October 9 at the National Stadium. Upon landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 11 a.m., the football star went straight to the hotel. He is expected to join the national team’s practice session at the National Stadium in the afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Hamza expressed his optimism and called for support from fans in a video message, stating: “Insha’Allah, we’ll be successful. On the 9th, we’ll play against Hong Kong, and Insha’Allah, everyone will support us.” The England-born midfielder will have three practice sessions with the team before Bangladesh’s crucial match against Hong Kong.
The upcoming match holds significant importance for Bangladesh. After their previous defeat to Singapore, Bangladesh’s prospects of qualifying for the World Cup have dimmed. The team must secure a victory against Hong Kong to keep their qualification hopes alive.
