Dhaka: A Dhaka court today placed Kabir, a close associate of prime accused Faisal Karim Masud alias Rahul Daud, on a seven-day remand in a case filed over the attempted murder of Sharif Osman Hadi, convener of Inqilab Manch. Police produced Kabir before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court seeking a 10-day remand for further investigation. After hearing the petition, Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibuzzaman, on behalf of the CMM, granted a seven-day remand. Sub-Inspector Roknuzzaman of the General Registration unit of the Paltan Thana court confirmed the matter to BSS.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the case statement reveals that on December 12 at around 2:20 pm, Osman Hadi was attacked while returning from Motijheel Mosque after offering Jumma prayers and concluding a campaign. Assailants riding a motorcycle allegedly opened fire at him on Box Culvert Road under Paltan Police Station and fled the scene. Following the incident, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Manch, filed a case with Paltan Police Station on December 14, accusing the attackers of attempted murder.
