DHAKA, March 15, 2023 (BSS) - Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today said gymnasium would be built in every ward under the city corporation.
"In order to improve the lifestyle of young generation, gymnasium will be built at each ward of the Dhaka South City Corporation," Taposh said after laying the foundation stone of the development works of Nalgola Bahubrihi fitness centre sited at ward-30, said a press release.
Taposh said, "We want to encourage youths to get involved in sports. We want to deliver our services to the young society of Dhaka city, so that the city becomes a livable city with the creation of an aesthetic environment."
About the fitness centre, he said, "There was a very fragile and small fitness centre . . . We have planned to upgrade it into a three-storied structure."
Arrangements have been made so that people can enjoy and have tea along with coffee at the centre apart from enjoying the view of adjoining river, he said, adding, "This infrastructure will be an amazing infrastructure for this ward and old Dhaka."
In response to a question from journalists about Muktangan, he said, "Actually, it is very sad. Dhaka city has become a sanctuary of encroachment. We are constantly continuing our operations. We have planned to develop the ground so that children can play there . . .. we will be able to open it within next month."
Lawmaker of Dhaka-7 constituency Haji Mohammad Salim, Chief executive officer of DSSC Mizanur Rahman, and chief engineer Saleh Saleh Ahmed, among others, were present.
