Chattogram: Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir today declared that 'Gupta' (covert) politics will not be allowed on educational institution campuses in Chattogram and other parts of the country.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nasir addressed a protest rally at New Market intersection in the port city, condemning an alleged attack on JCD activists from Chattogram City College. He claimed that assaults are being intentionally launched against Chhatra Dal leaders and activists, with efforts to falsely assign blame to them.
The protest procession commenced from the Old Railway Station ground and traversed various roads before concluding at the rally venue. During his speech, JCD Secretary Nasir emphasized that his organization engages in politics openly, with clear positions held by each leader and activist. In contrast, he accused the opposition of conducting attacks in secrecy and subsequently portraying themselves as victims.
Nasir advocated for expressing differences of opinion through logical discussion and counter-arguments, rather than resorting to violence. He argued that such attacks demonstrate a lack of belief in a normal political environment. Nasir also reported that several activists were injured in the recent incident at Chattogram City College, and he accused certain parties of spreading misleading information on social media to misrepresent the event.
He called for an end to violence in educational institutions and the establishment of a normal academic environment, warning of more severe actions if such incidents continue.
The rally, presided over by Chattogram city JCD Convener Saiful Alam and moderated by Member Secretary Shariful Islam Tuhin, saw attendance from various JCD leaders, including Chattogram University JCD President Alauddin Mohsin, General Secretary Abdullah Noman, South district Convener Rabiul Alam Rabi, North district President Takibul Hasan Chowdhury Taki, and General Secretary Sarwar Hossain Rubel, among others.
