Dhaka: Deputy Commissioner (Gulshan Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, M Tanvir Ahmed, and the Officer-in-Charge of Gulshan Model Police Station, Daud Hossain, have been withdrawn from their positions and reassigned to the DMP headquarters. The decision was formalized with separate office orders issued by the DMP headquarters.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the transfers were enacted for administrative reasons. This disciplinary action occurred five days after a procession was organized by Awami League leaders and activists in the Gulshan area of Dhaka on September 11. The Awami League is currently facing a ban on its activities, making the procession a focal point for the recent administrative decisions.

The DMP headquarters has not provided further details about the specific administrative reasons behind the withdrawal of the DC and OC, leaving room for speculation about the connection between the procession and the punitive measures taken against the police officials.
