The Russian House in Dhaka and Soviet Alumni Association Bangladesh (SAAB) have hosted a programme to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the then Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh AV Mantytskiy, SAAB President Taqsem Ahmed Khan, Bangladesh-Russia Friendship Society General Secretary Professor Shahidullah Sikder, Russian House Director Dobrokhotov, NGO representatives, and the Association of the Russian Compatriots in Bangladesh “Rodina” attended the discussion Friday.
The participants honoured the memory of 27 million Soviet people who laid down their lives in the fight against Nazi Germany.
They noted the decisive contribution of Soviet Union in liberating the world from the “brown plague” and called for stopping all attempts to revive the fascist ideology, said a media statement Saturday.
The event ended with a solemn concert and the opening ceremony of the Great Patriotic War exhibition.
