Patuakhali: The concluding ceremony of bootcamp training for 463 new sailors from the A-2025 batch of the Bangladesh Navy was held today with a vibrant parade at the BNS Sher-e-Bangla Parade Ground in Patuakhali. Adviser to the Ministries of Shipping and Labour and Employment, Brig Gen (retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain, graced the event as the chief guest. He inspected the parade, took the salute, and distributed awards to sailors who achieved outstanding results.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, among the new sailors, Md. Ghalib Al Mahdi Arnab achieved the highest excellence in professional and all subjects, winning the 'Navy Chief Award' as the best sailor. Md Hasib Hossain secured the second place, earning the 'Kamkhul Award,' while Md Naeem Gazi came in third, receiving the 'Sher-e-Bangla Award,' as stated in an ISPR release.
In his address to the new sailors, Sakhawat Hussain gratefully recalled the supreme sacrifice of fearless freedom fighters and naval commandos who participated in the war of independence. He also remembered those who suffered during the July Uprising, emphasizing their role in uplifting the spirit of independence and democratic progress.
The adviser urged all naval personnel, including the new sailors, to remain steadfast in protecting the sovereignty of the motherland. He praised the patriotism, efforts, and professional excellence of naval personnel in advancing the three-dimensional navy. Sakhawat Hussain expressed hope that the young sailors will play a leading role in safeguarding Bangladesh's maritime borders and in building a strong nation.
He encouraged the new sailors to acquire professional skills through continuous training and extended gratitude to the navy for its recent assistance to the civil administration. The adviser congratulated the young sailors for joining the proud ranks of the Bangladesh Navy and called upon them to dedicate themselves to protecting the country's independence and sovereignty.
High-ranking military and civil officials, local dignitaries, and family members of the new sailors attended the parade.
