Pirojpur: State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahammad Sohel Monzoor has directed authorities to start operations of the 250-bed Pirojpur District Hospital without waiting for the installation of lifts to reduce the sufferings of patients. The directive was given at a meeting of the Pirojpur District Hospital Management Committee.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister addressed questions from journalists after the meeting, stating that the hospital will initially start limited operations without lifts to ease the hardship of patients. He announced that four floors of the hospital are set to become operational between April 30 and May 15.

Monzoor explained that the installation of lifts has been delayed due to the ongoing global war situation, with the lifts expected to arrive in August. He emphasized that healthcare services will commence on four floors rather than waiting for the lift installation to complete.

The state minister acknowledged a shortage of doctors in hospitals across Bangladesh but assured that steps will be taken over the next two months to appoint doctors and address any malfunctioning equipment. He expressed optimism that healthcare services would improve within the next two months compared to the previous situation.

The meeting, chaired by State Minister Ahmad Sohel Monzoor, included attendees such as Pirojpur Deputy Commissioner Md Abu Sayeed, Civil Surgeon Md Matiur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Abdul Awal, and Pirojpur district BNP convener Nazrul Islam Khan, along with member secretary Saidul Islam Kismat.
