Govt. to Intensify Operations to Curb Adulterated Drugs, Medical Malpractices: Minister

Dhaka: Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain has announced that mobile team operations will be intensified across the country to curb adulterated medicines and medical malpractice. The minister made this announcement during a press briefing following the second session of the Deputy Commissioners (DC) Conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Husain emphasized that strict measures will be implemented to prevent the sale of contaminated drugs in dispensaries. He sought cooperation from deputy commissioners to address the existing challenges in the country’s health sector. During the conference, various limitations were highlighted, and discussions focused on effective steps to overcome these hurdles.



The minister also stressed the importance of cleanliness to minimize the dengue risk, advocating for a focus on prevention over treatment. Additionally, he mentioned that instructions have been issued to ensure a steady supply of anti-rabies vaccines and antivenom for snakebite treatment.



Minister Husain reported satisfactory progress in the ongoing measles vaccination campaign, with approximately 81 percent of the target achieved, and assured that full coverage will be achieved soon. Furthermore, he announced initiatives to deploy Ansar members at upazila health complexes and other healthcare centers. Each center will be staffed with a team of 10 Ansar personnel, including one platoon commander, to be implemented swiftly.
