Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced the government’s commitment to facilitating an unhindered celebration for the upcoming July mass uprising event, scheduled from July 1 to August 5. The uprising commemorates the removal of the previous Awami League government.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jahangir spoke to journalists following a meeting of the core committee on law and order at the Home Ministry Conference Room in the Bangladesh Secretariat. He emphasized discussions had been held to ensure that various political parties and socio-cultural organizations could conduct their nationwide programs without obstruction.

In response to questions regarding potential security threats during the event, Jahangir assured that no threats had been identified to date. He also addressed concerns about alleged inaction by law enforcement in incidents at Muradnagar in Cumilla and Patuakhali, stating that police had taken appropriate measures and that those responsible had been brought to justice.

Jahangir highlighted an improvement in the law and order situation, attributing it to the actions of law enforcement agencies. He referenced a recent study indicating that 62 percent of the population believes there has been an improvement in the law and order situation. “We judge the public reaction and act accordingly,” he concluded.
