Govt to Ensure Improved Communication System to Enhance Living Standards: Dr Zahid

Nawabganj: Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Dr AZM Zahid Hossain today stated that the government is committed to improving the communication system to elevate the living standards of citizens. ‘No mother should ever have to say again, ‘My daughter’s marriage was broken due to poor road conditions’,’ he emphasized during a meeting with the upazila administration at the Nawabganj Upazila Parishad auditorium.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Zahid highlighted that the government, under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s leadership, strives for the development of people across various classes and professions, irrespective of religion and caste. The primary goal is to deliver visible development and ensure accessible services for all citizens. He also reiterated the government’s dedication to fulfilling people’s expectations, inspired by the ideals of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. The administration aims to ensure welfare for all, regardless of party affiliation, as they assume office in the month of the mother language.



Addressing development in his constituency’s four upazilas, Dr Zahid mentioned that integrated development programmes will be launched in education, health, agriculture, and communication sectors. He also announced that strict measures would be enforced against extortion, terrorism, drugs, and smuggling, directing law enforcement agencies to take effective steps for creating a safe and livable community. He warned that criminals, irrespective of their identity, would face justice.



Dr Zahid paid homage to the brave freedom fighters, acknowledging their sacrifices that paved the way for the country’s independence, allowing him to serve as a physician and minister. He expressed gratitude and sought their cooperation in advancing the area’s development.



The meeting, chaired by Nawabganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Zillur Rahman, also featured speeches from Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services Mohammad Abdul Matin, District Women and Children Affairs Officer Md Morshed Ali Khan, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Mehedi Hasan, and Nawabganj Upazila BNP President Md Tarikul Islam. Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services Md Roknuzzaman Mondal conducted the programme. Following the meeting, Dr Zahid engaged in discussions with the administrations of Ghoraghat and Hakimpur upazilas as part of his daylong engagement.
