Dhaka: The government is set to ensure the distribution of all school textbooks by January of the next year, according to Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed. He made this announcement today, emphasizing the efforts to streamline the distribution process and address any past irregularities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, orders for printing textbooks for certain classes have already been placed. Authorities are currently reviewing the list of recipient institutions to prevent any school from receiving multiple allocations or engaging in irregular practices. Dr Salehuddin shared these updates with reporters after attending the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) and the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs (ACCEA) meetings at the Cabinet Division in the city.
In response to queries, Dr Salehuddin assured that the government aims to ensure fair distribution of books, particularly to those who have previously received them properly. The government is also investigating allegations that some institutions received more than their fair share in the past. He stressed the government's commitment to finalizing the list of recipients within the next two weeks to meet the scheduled distribution deadline. "Our target is clear -- students must receive textbooks on time, by January 1," he added.
