Dhaka: Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain today announced that the government is prepared to take necessary steps to facilitate sending BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia abroad for medical treatment, contingent on a formal decision by her family or political party.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser conveyed this information in response to journalists' inquiries at the Foreign Ministry. He emphasized that any government action regarding Khaleda Zia's medical treatment abroad is dependent on a formal request from her family or party.
Additionally, the adviser mentioned that the interim government has yet to receive any formal communication about the potential return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, Khaleda Zia's personal physician and a BNP Standing Committee Member, reported that she is currently undergoing treatment in the CCU of Evercare Hospital. "Begum Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment since November 27 and is responding to the treatment being provided by the doctors," Dr. Zahid stated during a press briefing outside the hospital earlier today.
