Dhaka: Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed today confirmed that the government swiftly allocated funds for the treatment of Sharif Osman Hadi, who was critically injured after being shot by two assailants on Box Culvert Road in Paltan. Hadi, a spokesperson for Inqilab Moncho and a potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency, sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Salehuddin assured that financial resources would not be a barrier to Hadi’s medical care, emphasizing that the government was prepared to cover the expenses for his treatment abroad. The Finance Adviser was responding to media inquiries following meetings of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs and the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
The government took immediate action upon receiving news of Hadi’s condition and the recommendation to send him overseas for advanced medical treatment. Dr Salehuddin highlighted the significant costs involved in such cases, including the potential need for an air ambulance, and reassured that the Ministry of Finance was managing the expenses from its current budget.
Dr Salehuddin further explained that once the board made its decision and recommendation, the government acted promptly. He reiterated the commitment to provide necessary financial allocations without hesitation, ensuring that Hadi receives the required medical care.
