Dhaka: The government has announced new office hours for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, applicable to all government, semi-government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous institutions in the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the new schedule specifies that offices will be open from 9 am to 3:30 pm during Ramadan. The Ministry of the Public Administration released a notification detailing these changes, including a daily break for Zuhr prayers from 1:15 pm to 1:30 pm. Fridays and Saturdays will continue to be observed as weekly holidays.

The notification also highlighted that banks, insurance companies, other financial institutions, postal services, railways, hospitals, state-owned industrial institutions, factories, and other emergency services will have the autonomy to set their own office hours. These entities are expected to align their schedules with relevant laws or rules, focusing on public interest.

Moreover, the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and its subordinate courts will have their hours determined by the Supreme Court itself. This adjustment of office hours is an annual practice to ensure the continuation of public services in alignment with Iftar and Sehri timings during Ramadan.
