Dhaka: The Housing and Public Works (HPW) Ministry today announced the cancellation of the allocation of 12 under-construction flats originally designated for former secretaries, retired judges, and other retired government officials, according to a ministry press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the flats in question are located in House No. 711 (New-63) on Road No. 13 (New-6/A) in Dhanmondi R/A and are part of a project titled ‘Construction of residential flats in various abandoned houses in Dhanmondi and Mohammadpur, Dhaka (Housing Dhanmondi) (Phase 1)’. The project is being conducted by the National Housing Authority.
The cancelled allocations include those for a number of high-profile individuals such as a retired judge and former commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Md. Zahurul Haque, with a flat size of 4105.05 sq ft, and former senior secretary Md. Yunusur Rahman, who was allocated a flat of 2315.83 sq ft. Other notable individuals affected by this decision are Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khan, M. A. Quader Sarkar, Dr. M Aslam Alam, Aktari Momtaz, Md. Sirajul Haque Khan, Md. Manjurul Bashid, Syed Aminul Islam, Professor Nehal Ahmed, Md. Anisur Rahman, and S. M. Golam Faruk, with flat sizes ranging from 2049.13 sq ft to 4308.68 sq ft.
The decision to cancel these allocations was made based on a report from a committee formed by the National Housing Authority and was finalized during its 274th board meeting.
