Ilisha ghat: State Minister for Shipping Rajib Ahsan today announced that the government is committed to providing uninterrupted water transport services and plans to introduce new vessels on routes with high demand to alleviate passenger inconvenience. He emphasized the importance of ensuring a smooth and safe travel experience for all passengers.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a nationwide boat census is currently underway to identify and register all vessels in the country based on their capacity. The minister stated that once this process is completed, any illegal vessels will be banned from operating, ensuring a more regulated water transport sector.
During an inspection at the Ilisha ghat, the minister highlighted the measures taken by the government ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, focusing on the safe travel of passengers returning home for the holidays and later returning to their workplaces. The inspection was attended by officials from the local district administration, the ministry of shipping, and local dignitaries, reflecting the collaborative effort to enhance the country's water transport infrastructure.
