Dhaka: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed announced on Monday the government’s commitment to enhancing the three-dimensional capabilities of the Bangladesh Police. This initiative aims to uphold law and order, ensuring the safety of citizens and their properties.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the Home Minister emphasized the integration of modern and technology-driven training for police personnel. This includes the introduction of helicopters, establishment of advanced training centers, and the procurement of modern vehicles and equipment. These steps are part of the current democratic government’s strategic measures to bolster law enforcement effectiveness.

The Minister highlighted that Bangladesh Police has adopted various modern technologies to enhance their operational capabilities. By employing scientific investigation techniques and technology, the police strive to protect public safety while respecting human rights. The ongoing operations of the ‘National Emergency Service 999’ also underscore these efforts, facilitating public access to police, ambulance, and fire services.

In response to a query from BNP MP Abul Kalam Azad Siddique, the Home Minister detailed the technology-based plans designed to transform the police force into a disciplined entity. These plans include a long-term perspective plan, a medium-term strategic plan, and a short-term annual plan to boost public safety. Continuous training, both domestically and internationally, is being provided to police personnel to enhance their skills, alongside the development of modern training centers and acquisition of updated machinery.

The government is also focused on scientific investigation methods, installing CCTV cameras at critical locations, and using information technology to identify and apprehend criminals. Furthermore, the digital storage of crime data through the Case Diary Management System (CDMS) aids in investigative processes, with online General Diary (GD) and police clearance now available at police stations, reflecting the police’s evolving capabilities.
