Bandarban: State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs, Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, has committed to transforming the CHT into a prosperous region by ensuring development, prosperity, and communal harmony among all communities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister emphasized the government's goal of improving the living standards of all communities as part of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's vision of building a 'Rainbow Nation.' Addressing a function at the CHT Development Board's conference room, he reiterated the government's dedication to a coordinated development approach in the region.
During the event, multimedia equipment was distributed to educational institutions, sewing machines to indigenous minority groups and local women, and power tillers to farmers, reflecting the government's commitment to uplift the disadvantaged. Mir Helal highlighted ongoing development activities under the Prime Minister's leadership aimed at enhancing the lives of people in the CHT.
The state minister stressed the importance of preserving and showcasing the country's diverse arts, culture, heritage, and traditions globally. He called for coordinated efforts to bolster peace, harmony, and goodwill in the hill region, maximizing its potential.
The programme witnessed the distribution of 15 power tillers to farmers and sewing machines to women for economic self-reliance. Educational institutions received multimedia equipment to enhance education quality.
Earlier, Mir Helal inaugurated a new building of Bandarban MDCS Hospital, laid the foundation for its expansion, and opened a hostel building at Bandarban Cantonment Public School and College. He also inspected various ongoing development projects in the district.
The programme was chaired by Major General (retd) Anup Kumar Chakma, Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board, with the presence of key figures including Bandarban Region Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Ariful Islam, Vice Chairman Sheikh Saleh Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer Suman Barua, and Principal Lt Col Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Khan. Senior officials from the CHT Development Board, Bangladesh Army, and various government institutions also attended.
