Dhaka: Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain announced today that a decision has been made to sell assets of the Nassa Group, following court orders, to settle the lawful arrears of wages and service benefits owed to its workers. This announcement was made during the 15th meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on the review of labour and business conditions of industrial units at Beximco Industrial Park, held at the Secretariat.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Hossain detailed that shares of the Nassa Group have already been sold through a court-appointed administrator, resulting in a payment of Taka 76 crore to the workers as part of their outstanding dues. Additionally, in compliance with directives from Bangladesh Bank, the Nassa Group has made down payments to eight banks.

Further steps will be taken to address the down payments of the remaining 15 banks, as well as to clear the outstanding dues of the workers. This will involve selling some properties of the Nassa Group through open and competitive bidding, in accordance with court directives, Dr Hossain added.
