Rajshahi: Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, has announced that the government will provide maximum cooperation in allocating government khas land and railway land for educational institutions, madrasas, and orphanages. This initiative aims to ensure the continuation of education for underprivileged children.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister has promised to send a direct recommendation to the Railway Minister and the Railway Secretary to expedite the approval process for the concerned applications. This announcement was made during his visit to the JAAGO Foundation School located at Assam Colony in Rajshahi city.
The Land Minister emphasized the necessity of securing permanent spaces to uphold the right to education for children in underprivileged areas, focusing on employment-oriented education. He encouraged applications for suitable khas land allocations near new roads or railways to facilitate this objective.
In a view exchange meeting, it was revealed that approximately 5,000 underprivileged children are currently being educated in 11 USEP schools, most of which operate on City Corporation land. During his previous tenure as Mayor, Minu provided various forms of support, including the construction of three multi-storied buildings for these schools. However, concerns arise as the lease agreements for several sites, including one near the Tikapara Graveyard, are nearing expiration.
