Dhaka: The government has announced a series of guidelines for shopping malls and business establishments to conserve electricity. These decisions were made during a meeting focused on Electricity and Energy Conservation held at Bidyut Bhaban.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was chaired by State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit. It was attended by key stakeholders, including presidents, general secretaries, and representatives from the Bangladesh Dokan Malik Samiti, Bangladesh Dokan Byabosayee Malik Samiti, Dhaka Mahanagar Dokan Byabosayee Malik Samiti, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).
The guidelines mandate that decorative lighting outside all shopping malls and business establishments must remain off. Additionally, air-conditioning systems in these places should be set to a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius or higher. Furthermore, lights on signboards of shops and business establishments must be turned off immediately after the shops close.
