Dhaka: Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for ICT Division Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb has announced that the interim government is implementing crucial measures to prevent any future administration in Bangladesh from executing internet shutdowns.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb made this declaration during the inauguration of 'Bangladesh Startup Connect 2025' held at the Intercontinental in the capital. He underscored the government's commitment to making the internet a fundamental civic right in the country.

The event was organized by Startup Bangladesh Limited, ICT Division, and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA). It highlighted the burgeoning startup ecosystem in Bangladesh and its critical role in the global investment landscape.

Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb also pointed out that the NGSO guidelines lack provisions for internet shutdowns. He mentioned that the interim government is diligently working on amending controversial clauses of the Telecommunication Act of 2001 to legally prevent internet shutdowns in the future.

Prominent figures such as Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Ahsan H Mansur, Executive Chairman of BIDA Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, and Secretary of the ICT Division and Chairman of Startup Bangladesh Limited Shish Haider Chowdhury participated in the panel discussion.
