Rangamati: Social Welfare Adviser Sharmin S Murshid has declared the government's commitment to the welfare of underprivileged and neglected women across the country. She emphasized the importance of ensuring equal rights for women from all walks of life, including those residing in the hill tracts, during a recent meeting with officials of the Social Services Division and local dignitaries at the Circuit House in Rangamati.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the Rangamati district administration and chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin. In her capacity as the chief guest, Adviser Murshid stressed the necessity of making the activities of the Social Services and Cooperative Divisions in the hill tracts more dynamic. This, she argued, is crucial to ensure that women in these areas receive the same opportunities and rights as their counterparts elsewhere in the country.
Upon her arrival at the Circuit House, Adviser Murshid was warmly received by Rangamati Hill District Council Chairman Farhad Hossen and Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin. The gathering also saw the presence of Social Welfare Secretary Dr. M Mohiuddin, Superintendent of Police Farhad Hossain, Rangamati Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rifat Asma, District Social Services Deputy Director M Omar Faruque, Family Planning Officer Dr. Baby Tripura, and women leader Nirupa Dewan, among others, highlighting the collaborative effort to address the needs of marginalized women.
